Monterey Peninsula Country Club - Dunes Course - Monterey, CA
Originally designed by Seth Raynor with help from Robert Hunter, and Alister Mackenzie in 1924, the Dunes course was remodeled in 1998 by Rees Jones. With it's most recent renovation by Tom Fazio, the Dunes course along with the Shore course has joined the conversation for best 36 hole complex on the planet. In 1947, MPCC introduced the Bing Crosby Tournament and hosted the Pro-Am format for 18 consecutive years. Today, the ATT Pro-Am is hosted on MPCC's Shore course along with Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach.
My score would mimic the weather on what started out as a rainy and windy day on the peninsula. Out of the gate, I hung a nice double bogie on the board. On the second hole, the rain would continue and I would add another double to the scorecard. Not wanting to ruin a good streak, I added another double on the 3rd hole as well. After 3 putting for bogie on the 4th hole, I would get my act together with a par on the short 5th hole. As the rain lifted, I rattled off 13 consecutive pars. Whether I needed to miss a short putt for birdie or make a lengthy putt for par, I would not be denied. The streak ended on 18 with a clutch putt for birdie. Golf!!
