6-4-3 Double Play on Nevis

The island of Nevis is 36 square miles with a population of just 12,000 people. Which means that you could potentially cover the entire island in one visit. But before we get ahead of ourselves, there are a number of things that you should know about Nevis.

I have developed a 6-4-3 double play schematic to help make sense of the island life. From the Four Seasons to the botanical gardens, I have got you covered. Strap yourselves in for a scenic jungle ride.

Our 6-4-3 journey starts in the backyard of the Four Seasons resort where a Robert Trent Jones II golf course climbs its way up and down Nevis Peak. During my photoshoot, I scoured the golf course meticulously to find the most interesting angles and highlights of the golf course. The 6-4-3 double play schematic starts with the number 6. The 6 represents the top 6 aspects of the Four Seasons golf course.

#6 - The entire 9th hole.

The tee shot is not only scenic, but it is strategic. A big drive can put you right in front of the green, but the wise player lays back and approaches the green with a short iron. The approach shot into the green provides the second best vista on the golf course.

#5 - The tee shot on 16

The signature par 3 on the golf course is highlighted by the view from the 16th tee box. The wise golfer will take inspiration from this dramatic view and stick one close.

#4 - The aqueduct on the 17th hole

What would normally be a pedestrian golf hole is transformed with the use of this waterway as a strategic feature. Laying back will give the golfer a challenging approach to one of the course’s toughest greens. This back left pin provides a serious test.

#3 - The remnants of the old sugar mill on hole #2.

A little island history pairs up nicely with your tee ball on the second tee box. This golf hole is “pretty sweet.”

#2 - The approach shot on #11

A good drive will set up my favorite view on the golf course. With a bunker short right and the island of St Kitts looming in the backdrop, I like to pause briefly and admire the vista before stuffing my wedge in there for a birdie chance.

#1 - The approach shot on the 18th hole.

The Four Seasons course wraps things up nicely with an ocean front finish. At 445 yards from the back tees, most golfers will have a mid iron into this infinity style green. After making your putt for birdie, it is just a short sprint to cannonball into the Caribbean Sea.

Not only is the golf course home to some amazing views, but is also home to the green vervet monkey. Around 60 families of free roaming monkeys live on the golf course feeding off of the leaves, berries, and fruit. It’s a life of mangoes and golf for these guys. The green vervet monkeys also represent the 4 in our 6-4-3 double play schematic. Here are the top 4 monkey business shots.

#4 - Lip out on #10

This monkey reacts as I miss a short putt for par on the 10th hole.

#3 - Curious George

George looks to see what I have in the golf bag. His interest was mostly centered around my new Club Champion custom fit Titleist driver.

#2 - Sunset Pose

This little guy distracts my attention from the golf course at golden hour. A move that would serve him well as he achieves the #2 spot in the monkey business rankings.

#1 - Elite level Monkey Modeling

It’s not as iconic as the “George Costanza,” but this power pose is certainly the talk of the town in Nevis right now. Does this guy have a future in the cutthroat world of monkey modeling? We think so.

On a hot local tip I was informed that there is more to Nevis than golf and monkey. It was time to turn my attention elsewhere to find the missing 3 in our 6-4-3 double play schematic. Here are my top 3 Nevis destinations.

#3 - The Botanical Gardens of Nevis

$10 will grant you access to the local Botanical Gardens of Nevis. Are you in the mood for shaded Orchid Terraces? How about bejeweled bromeliads? Or maybe you are just here to observe over 100 species of palms. If so, the gardens are for you.

#2 - The Hamilton House

For American history buffs, the childhood home of Alexander Hamilton is a must see. The location is complete with a museum that lays out a well documented timeline of Nevis history.

#1 - Four Seasons Resort

After the government, the Four Seasons is the second largest employer on the island of Nevis. All of those employees go the extra mile to ensure that every guest has a memorable experience. From the suites to the beach side service, no detail goes unnoticed at the Four Seasons.
