The Woodlands - Windsor Mill, MD
The TeeTime Golf Pass golf trip started with a day of 54 holes on 3 Baltimore County Golf courses. Unfortunately, I would not get a glimpse of sun for any of those 54 holes. Since I had been away from golf for about a month, I didn’t mind playing in the rain one bit. The Woodlands course was designed by Lindsay Ervin and opened to the public in 1998. I had not heard of Ervin before my round but I really enjoyed his efforts. I can see why Ervin believes that the Woodlands "truly ranks as my best design."
Diamond Ridge - Windsor Mill, MD
The Diamond Ridge course shares a clubhouse with the Woodlands, so after a quick zip through the rain, I popped over to the Diamond Ridge course for my second soaking wet round of the day. The Diamond Ridge course is shorter and a much more simple golf course than it’s next door neighbor. The short course and small greens have some charm.
Rocky Point Golf Course - Essex, MD
The 3rd round of my first day on the TeeTime Golf Pass adventure was the only waterfront golf course on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. I found Rocky Point to be a runaway favorite. The front nine has some pretty typical muni golf holes, but the back nine starts to rock and roll. The 10th hole is a bold par 4 that sends you towards the bay and the 11th hole is the par 3 money maker. Several fun par 5’s round out a very enjoyable golf course.
Pro Tip: Stop in the shop and say hi to the Head Pro, Bob. I found Bob to be one of the most enjoyable golf professionals that I have encountered.
Fox Hollow Golf Club - Timonium, MD
Fox Hollow brings up the rear on the portfolio of Baltimore County Golf courses. What it lacks in stature, it makes up for in charm. The wide generous fairways and fun short par 3’s have been serving the golfing public for over 40 years. Like a seasoned muni professional, I pulled the head pro out of the club house and challenged him to a 500 pushup closest to the pin duel.
Greystone Golf Club - White Hall, MD
By this point on my TeeTime Golf Pass journey, I was wondering if the sun was ever going to show itself. Unfortunately, it didn’t bother to make an appearance as I found my way around the crown jewel of Baltimore County Golf, Greystone Golf Club. Designed by Joe Lee, the same architect that designed the Blue Monster, Greystone offers a similar challenge with much more variety. With 5 par 3’s and 5 par 5’s Greystone will keep you on your toes.
Since I was 500 push-uips down from the previous day’s closest to the pin competition I needed to get some revenge. I pulled Gary out of the pro shop and took him out to the joyously good 17th hole for some competition.
Iron Valley Golf Club - Lebanon, PA
I had heard good things about Iron Valley, so I was a little disappointed when I arrived and couldn’t see a damn thing. The fog had completely obscured any potential visuals. I lost a half dozen golf balls into the mist that morning. Fortunately, I would return in the afternoon and the sun would pop out for the first time during my trip. The results were spectacular.
Opening in the spring of 2000, this PB Dye design jumped onto the Pennsylvania public golf scene with gusto as one of the best public golf courses in Pennsylvania. Both nines provide some truly dramatic options for golf and the Dye design essentials are evident throughout Iron Valley.
The North Cornwall Commons - Lebanon, PA
With Iron Valley being a standout golf club in the TeeTime Golf Pass portfolio, it makes a ton of sense to travel for the golf. Fortunately, the North Cornwall Commons provide the perfect stay and play location for a visit to Iron Valley. The Fairfield Inn is the perfect hotel and the area has just about everything the traveling golfer needs. Mick’s All American Pub and the Ancestor Coffeehouse and Creperie were two of my favorites.
Fairview Golf Course - Lebanon, PA
With a gap in the itinerary and sunny skies, I decided to pull an emergency 18 at Fairview Golf Course. The mow lines were spectacular and the green fee of $32 was phenomenal.
Moselem Springs - Fleetwood, PA
Nestled amidst the picturesque and verdant hills of Berks County, this George Fazio creation has a rich history of golf as one of America’s finest golf courses. Having hosted the US Women’s Open in 1968 and several Pennsylvania Opens, Moselem is tournament tested. Unfortunately, my visit to Moselem Springs was scheduled during a major mist situation followed by one hell of a thunderstorm. I enjoyed 9 holes before the lightning alarm pulled me off of the golf course.
Berkleigh Golf Club - Fleetwood, PA
Located just 6 minutes away from Moselem Springs lies Berkleigh Golf Club. The golf course was designed by Robert White of Carnoustie, Scotland, who became the first president of the PGA of America, Berkleigh delivers a historic layout and tree lined fairways. Unfortunately, I arrived after the course had closed due to excessive rains. The post storm clouds resulted in some great drone photographs that eased the pain of not playing golf.
Broad Run Golfer’s Club - West Chester, PA
Broad Run isn’t a country club, it isn’t a golf course, hell, its not even a golf club. Broad Run is a Golfer’s Club. This small distinction let’s the visiting golfer know that they are in for something special. This Rees Jones design provides plenty of thrills and dramatic elevation changes and is an obvious favorite for those in the West Chester area.
During my trip with TeeTime Golf Pass I visited 10 golf courses. Surprisingly, I had not heard of any of these golf courses before my visit. I found all of the courses to be very enjoyable with several outstanding highlights. I left only wanting more from the robust offering of golf courses with TeeTime Golf Pass. If I were a local golfer in any of the areas that Tee Time Golf Pass covers, I would go right down the list and play all of the courses that I could get to. If you are the sort of golfer that enjoys exploring new golf courses at a discounted rate, TeeTime Golf Pass is the ticket for you. More courses, more deals, more fun.
