Clean Cause Yerba Mate

As most of you know by now, I have been sober for 14 years. Giving up alcohol at the age of 25 was the best decision that I have made in my life. So when something comes along that touches on the topic of sobriety, I am excited to hear about. A company called Clean Cause is doing more than just talking about sobriety, they are actually doing something to help people stay clean and sober. It’s Yerba Mate on a mission.

What is Yerba Mate?

  • An herbal tea made from the leaves and twigs of the Ilex paraguariensis plant

  • Rich in minerals, amino acids, and naturally occurring caffeine

  • Linked to results such as a lower risk of heart disease and an improved immune system. Some studies have show Yerba Mate can boost energy and mental performance.

In addition to providing a great drink for your enjoyment, CLEAN uses 50% of its profits to support recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Their initiative is something called CLEAN Kickstarts. These are 30-day sober living scholarships for individuals just coming out of rehab. The focus is to help them adjust back to normal life with a job and a recovery support system.

At the time of this post, CLEAN has granted 705 sober living scholarships at an approximate value of $352,500. That’s 705 people that have been given a better opportunity to turn their lives around. “Believe it or not, it’s a lot harder finding scholarships to award than you would think. If you know of anybody in your area please feel free to point them in the right direction.” says Matt Hill, The Regional Director at CLEAN Cause. The applicants are chosen from an online submission portal at hello@cleancause.com.

For me, those first 30 days were the most turbulent and challenging and this move from CLEAN really puts the funds where they are needed the most. The transition from simply not using drugs and alcohol to actually living life is such a huge factor in figuring out long term sobriety.

Head on over to CLEAN Cause if you are interested in helping those struggling with addiction or if you are just interested in purchasing a high quality beverage.

The sober living scholarship that you all gave me saved my life. I’ve been sober 60 days and promise to pay the blessing forward. Thank you so much for what you all are doing
